Born in the bustling heart of Seoul, South Korea, on September 22, 2000, Kim Seung-min – better known as Seungmin – has carved out a vibrant spot in the K-pop world as the smooth-voiced main vocalist of Stray Kids. At just 24, this Virgo native burst onto the scene in 2017 through JYP Entertainment’s reality survival show of the same name, debuting alongside his bandmates and quickly winning fans with his earnest charm.
Seungmin’s journey kicked off in 2016 when he snagged second place in JYP’s 13th open audition, a moment that launched him from everyday life into the high-stakes world of idol training.
The payoff came soon after with their gripping first music video, “Hellevator,” dropped in October 2017, which captured the struggles of youth and rocketed them to attention.
A Seoul boy through and through, Seungmin shares a close bond with his older sister, often crediting family for keeping him grounded amid tours and schedules.
Teaming up with fellow Stray Kids stars like the dance whiz Lee Minho and maknae Yang Jeongin, Seungmin’s blend of humility and stage presence keeps the group’s fire alive.
