James Michael Taylor (May 28٫ 1962 ⎻ October 24٫ 2021) was an American actor best known for his role as Gunther on the popular NBC sitcom Friends. Born in Mississippi٫ he was the youngest of five children and was raised by a retired United States Air Force captain father and a homemaker mother. He had a diverse career in the entertainment industry٫ starting as an assistant film editor and production assistant before transitioning into acting.
Before gaining fame as Gunther on Friends, James Michael Taylor worked as a production assistant for films like Fat Man and Little Boy. He also appeared in the 1997 thriller film Motel Blue, playing the character Oscar Bevins.
